Downtown Fredericton is one of the best-preserved historic centres in the region: Loyalist-era and Victorian homes on elm-lined streets near the Green, the Legislature and the university hill, with newer condos along the river and the downtown core.
Heritage homes here have tall windows, deep casings and original trim worth protecting, and many have the drafts to match. Newer condos face the river with big glass.
What we fit most here: tailored Roman shades with thermal lining, real wood blinds in studies and dining rooms, cellular shades for bedrooms, and solar shades in riverfront condos.
University and government. Downtown homes house a mix of long-time owners, UNB and STU faculty, public servants and students. Owners often want heritage-appropriate choices; landlords want durable, cordless products that are easy to replace.
Heat in summer, too. Fredericton summers can be hot and humid. Closing insulating or solar shades on south and west windows through the afternoon keeps older homes without central air noticeably cooler.
Frequently asked questions
Can blinds be installed without damaging heritage trim?
Yes. We mount inside the casing wherever possible and choose bracket positions carefully. If an outside mount is needed, we agree placement with you first.
What helps most with drafty tall sash windows?
Double-cell cellular shades with side channels, or lined Roman shades mounted snugly. Both trap a layer of air and slow cold air falling into the room.
What blinds work in a downtown rental?
Cordless roller shades and faux wood blinds. They are durable, easy to clean and simple to replace between tenants.
