Custom blinds and shades in Yarmouth

Free. No obligation. Most quotes the same day.

Yarmouth was once one of the great shipbuilding and shipping ports of the world, and its sea captains built homes to prove it. Grand Victorian houses still line the streets of the historic district, alongside working family homes, Acadian communities in the surrounding area, and newer houses in Hebron, Arcadia and along the shore.

Yarmouth has some of the mildest winters in Atlantic Canada and the latest winter sunset of any city we serve, at about 4:49 p.m. on December 21. It also has fog, damp and salt air almost year-round. Window coverings here need to handle moisture first.

Measures in southwest Nova Scotia are scheduled on regular trips. Your blinds are made in our Nova Scotia workshop and installed by our own crew.

What Yarmouth homes need

Moisture-ready products. Faux wood, polyester fabrics and corrosion-resistant hardware.

Heritage care. Lined Roman shades and careful measuring for sea captains' homes.

Warmth on the wind. Cellular shades on exposed walls.

Harbour glare. Solar shades on water-facing windows.

Approximate times, calculated for Yarmouth's location. Compare all 45 communities.

Shortest day (Dec 21) Longest day (Jun 21)
Sunrise 7:55 a.m. 5:42 a.m.
Sunset 4:49 p.m. 9:10 p.m.
Daylight 8 h 54 min 15 h 28 min
Sun height at noon 23° 70°

What it means for your windows: In midwinter the sun never climbs higher than about 23 degrees here, so it reaches far into south-facing rooms. That is welcome warmth on a cold afternoon and a real glare problem on a TV or a laptop. In June it is still light at 9:10 p.m., which is why we recommend true blackout, not room darkening, for kids' rooms.

Communities we serve

We also serve Pubnico, Wedgeport, Port Maitland and the French Shore toward Clare on request.

Around Yarmouth

Tusket

Tusket sits on the Tusket River east of Yarmouth, the heart of the Municipality of Argyle and a proud Acadian community, with the historic Argyle Township Court House and the Tusket Islands scattered offshore.

Homes range from older family houses to newer builds along the river, and the damp coastal climate of southwest Nova Scotia is a constant.

What we fit most here: cellular shades for warmth, moisture-resistant faux wood and roller shades for kitchens and bathrooms, and blackout for bedrooms.

Do you offer service in French in the Tusket area? Our French website is coming soon.

Is Tusket included in your Yarmouth trips? Yes. Tusket and the Argyle area are included in our regular southwest Nova Scotia measure and install trips.

Hebron

Hebron lies just north of Yarmouth along Highway 1, a residential community with family homes, newer subdivisions and easy access to town. Many Yarmouth-area families have chosen it for more space close to services.

Newer homes here need finishing: blackout bedrooms, child-safe cordless shades and a clean look throughout. Older homes need warmth.

What we fit most here: cordless cellular shades, blackout roller shades for kids' rooms, and faux wood in kitchens and bathrooms.

What are the best blinds for a young family? Cordless or motorized shades with no reachable cords, blackout for bedrooms and tough, easy-clean fabrics. Cellular shades add warmth too.

Do you serve Hebron? Yes, as part of our regular Yarmouth-area trips.

Arcadia

Arcadia sits just east of Yarmouth near the airport and the Chebogue River, a quiet residential community of family homes, some with water views, all with the damp coastal air that defines this corner of the province.

Moisture, wind and warmth are the three things Arcadia homeowners mention most.

What we fit most here: cellular shades for warmth on exposed walls, faux wood blinds in kitchens and bathrooms, and solar shades on water-facing windows.

Why does my house feel damp near the windows? Cold glass and humid coastal air cause condensation, especially behind closed blinds overnight. Moisture-resistant fabrics, a small gap for airflow and good ventilation help. See our guide to condensation and mould on blinds.

Is Arcadia included in your Yarmouth visits? Yes. Measures and quotes are free.
