Tantallon sits at the head of St. Margarets Bay, a mix of year-round family homes in Upper Tantallon, newer houses up in the hills and waterfront homes and cottages along the shore toward Hackett's Cove and Glen Haven. It is close enough to commute and far enough to feel like the coast.
Ocean-facing homes here take the full weather of the Bay: wind, salt, fog and a winter sun reflecting off the water. Year-round homes need warmth; cottages need products that survive months closed up.
What we fit most here: solar shades on ocean-facing windows, moisture-resistant roller shades and faux wood in cottages, cellular shades for warmth in year-round homes, and corrosion-resistant hardware close to the water.
Hills and views. Newer homes in the hills above the Bay often have big windows facing the water. Motorized solar shades are popular for these, set to lower when the afternoon sun hits.
Frequently asked questions
What blinds hold up in an oceanfront home on St. Margarets Bay?
Moisture-resistant polyester roller, solar or cellular shades and faux wood blinds, with corrosion-resistant hardware. These handle salt air and humidity far better than real wood or natural fibres.
Do you install blinds in seasonal cottages?
Yes. We schedule cottage installs in spring and fall, and recommend moisture-resistant products for homes that sit closed through the winter.
Do you install in Upper Tantallon and Glen Haven?
Yes. We measure and install throughout Tantallon, Upper Tantallon, Hackett's Cove and Glen Haven.
