Westphal is one of Dartmouth's older communities, out along Main Street toward Lake Major and the edge of the city. It has a quieter, more settled feel: bungalows and storey-and-a-half homes on larger lots, older houses that have been in families for generations, and newer homes tucked into the trees.
Larger lots and more trees mean more privacy from neighbours but more exposure to weather, and many homes here are heated with oil or wood alongside a newer heat pump. Warmth is usually the first priority.
What we fit most here: cellular shades, double-cell on north and windward windows, blackout in bedrooms, and faux wood blinds for kitchens, bathrooms and basements.
Frequently asked questions
Do you serve Westphal and the Lake Major area?
Yes. We measure and install throughout Westphal, Lake Major and the Main Street area with the same free measure and typical two-week turnaround as the rest of Dartmouth.
Will cellular shades help with oil or heat pump heating costs?
Yes. Cellular shades slow heat loss through windows, which reduces how hard any heating system has to work. The US Department of Energy found they can cut heating energy use by up to 20% compared with bare windows.
