Woodside sits on the harbour's edge, between downtown Dartmouth and Eastern Passage, with the ferry terminal, the Dartmouth General nearby, and a mix of older homes, wartime housing, apartments and new waterfront development. Many homes look straight across to Halifax, McNabs Island and the mouth of the harbour.
That view faces west and south, which means afternoon and evening sun pouring in, and in winter a low sun that comes in at eye level. It also means wind straight off the water.
What we fit most here: solar shades on harbour-facing windows, cellular shades on bedrooms and windows that catch the wind, and corrosion-resistant hardware for homes right on the water. Many healthcare workers live in the area, so we fit plenty of blackout for daytime sleep after night shifts.
Frequently asked questions
What blinds are best for shift workers who sleep during the day?
Blackout roller or blackout cellular shades with side channels. They block light through the fabric and around the edges, which matters on bright summer afternoons.
Do waterfront homes need special blind hardware?
It helps. Salt air can corrode cheap hardware over time. For homes close to the water we choose corrosion-resistant components and moisture-resistant fabrics.
